Patrick Ta Major Skin Foundation Review

During the Sephora Holiday savings event, I picked up the Patrick Ta Major Skin Crème Foundation & Finishing Powder duo. Its buildable medium coverage claims to perfect the complexion with a flawless skin-like finish.

The duo comes in a compact that contains .42oz (12g) of crème foundation and .31oz (9g) of translucent powder retailing for $52.00 USD. It comes in a rose-gold mirror-reflective luxury-looking compact design, and on the inside, you get a large mirror with the crème on top with a cover on it, and the powder beneath it.

While the packaging is stunningly beautiful upon first opening it quickly gets full of fingerprints (as you can tell by my photos). While it’s not bothersome to me, I know many people who may detest this kind of packaging.

Patrick Ta Major Skin Foundation Shade Selection & Dual-Ended Complexion Brush

The major skin foundation has a pretty good shade selection with 24 crème shades and a translucent pressed powder providing a natural skin-like finish. Since I ordered mine online I picked my shade using the shade finder quiz both on Sephora’s site and Patrick Ta’s website. I matched with light 2 (golden warm) and light 3 (golden neutral). I opted for shade light 3 and to my (delightful) surprise, it’s a perfect match!

Along with the duo foundation, I purchased the dual-ended complexion brush. It’s synthetic and designed for cream formulas and powders. The barrel of the brush is a beautiful gold that feels comfortable to hold, the round side is for cream and the tulip-shaped end is for powder. Of course, you can use this as you, please. But I followed the guide and used it as directed.

Normally, I love using this brush as my foundation brush. It’s much larger and provides an even and smooth finish. No matter the formula. As you can see, this brush is much smaller in comparison.

How Well Does It Blend? Does It Feel Lightweight? Or Heavy?

My first time using the brush left me underwhelmed. Firstly, I went a little heavy with the cream foundation. I was building it up to see how well it builds up – not too well in my experience. My pores looked enlarged instead of blurred. However, after a bit of trial and error, I actually grew to love the brush along with this product.

The bristles are very soft and feel lovely gliding across the skin. A light swipe across the cream is all you need and it blends the product beautifully onto the skin. The cream melts effortlessly into the skin and blends smoothly. Now onto the powder, when gently applied it looks nice. However, if applied excessively or heavily it becomes noticeable on the skin. It’s a powder so be careful especially if you have dry skin! Overall, it applies evenly and looks good!

The foundation lasts well throughout the day. When I did a wear test it looked just as good on hour 12 as it did on hour 1. Because I have dry skin the formula felt very comfortable. It never felt heavy instead it’s lightweight, and lives up to its name ‘major skin’! Because it really does look like your skin, but better!

Is The Patrick Ta Major Skin Crème Foundation & Finishing Powder Duo The Best Cream Foundation?

As we conclude, I have to say I’ve grown to really like this foundation. It wasn’t my favorite at first, I had to try it a few times but once I found my groove with it, it became a product I reach for frequently. Prep your skin correctly, as it can accentuate dry spots and cling to them.

So is this the best cream foundation? I would say it’s good. Not quite the best but definitely not bad either. I’m on the fence about whether I’ll repurchase, to be honest. But I do like it very much.
